Individual Therapy

In individual therapy you are supported in slowing down and settling AS WE TRANSITION INTO EACH SESSION.

You come to know your ‘felt sense’.  We, you and I, work with it in two ways. First, we create a space where you experience safety and acceptance as you explore what you chose to and what is coming into your awareness in the present moment. Being oriented to the present moment, the therapeutic encounter is experiential. You are supported as we touch into suppressed experiences that are causing you to suffer in the Here-and-Now.


We touch into attachment wounds, losses, and traumatic experiences. We welcome them as well as the defense responses that have kept them in place also come up. The second way is as a guide checking into your felt sense as you make new choices going forward from the present moment.


Our approach to individual therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs.

It is growth oriented, moving you towards experiencing an increasingly meaningful, fulfilling, and self-actualizing life. The goal is not to diagnose what is wrong with you or prescribe what you should do, but to empower you to increasingly believe in yourself and have confidence to make new choices that you were unaware were possible, or for one reason or another, you dismissed. Next you are supported in realizing those new possibilities. 


From my extensive experience empowering individuals in Houston and other parts of Texas, I have created a
unique approach to individual therapy based in Existential-Humanistic Theory, and drawing from Somatic Experiencing Therapy, Neuro-Psychological Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.


In our sessions, I listen to you attentively so that you feel truly heard. Practicing acceptance and empowerment with me, you come to know, honor, and respect yourself in new and uplifting ways. 


We focus on and explore what you want to and what comes up in the moment in the process of the session as it occurs. Again this is an experiential process, that is to say during the sessions I am attuned to you and your body’s physiological responses and I bring what I notice to your awareness. Then, as I support you in focusing, you make choices directing the session. We work with suppressed experiences, traumatic energies, and all the new possibilities that arise as we do the work. 


You gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your automatic behavioral patterns that have left you stuck in many recurring situations. Subsequently, you experience greater ability to choose with more choices in those situations. In addition, as you practice self-regulating skills, you come to handle stressful experiences, resolve conflicts, improve relationships, and increase self-esteem. 


Individual therapy is a journey, and each session is a step towards increasing self-acceptance, self-understanding, and self-actualization.
